Beth Santos, Founder and CEO of Wanderful, noticed a shocking statistic among Wanderful's community of women: As many as 40% of the women have at one point opted out of a trip because they didn’t feel safe, or because of someone else’s concerns about their safety. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Her solution? Travel more. And be loud about it. 🧳✈️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Talk about your experiences and dispel myths. Share your stories when you come home, and push back on those who shame you for daring to explore. Tell the travel brands you love what your needs are, and don’t let them shy away from discussing the hard topics. Hold them accountable. Cis men, you’re part of this, too: Speak up when you see something that looks off. Stand up against sexist comments directed at or about women." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Be safe, stay aware, and trust your gut. But remember – caution should not equal fear. Book that flight! 🌎 #womenwhotravelsolo // @maximumbeth

Almost 160 years ago, the Ute people are said to have placed a curse on the Crystal River Valley because of a broken promise. The Crystal Valley was one of the last drainages left to the Ute people when places like Aspen, Glenwood Springs and Meeker were settled by miners and ranchers. According to “Marble, Colorado: City of Stone” by Duane Vandebusche and Rex Myers, Utes and local settlers signed an agreement in 1860 for the Utes to remain in the lush Elk Mountains as long as the “rivers ran and the grasses grew.” But precious metals were discovered in the valley in the 1870s and the indigenous people were asked to leave. Remember who's land you're recreating on. This town was originally Ute territory, called Ute junction. 📍Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute) . . . . . . . . . . . . . #publiclandisindigenousland #adventuretime #forceofnature #optoutside #exploremore #uteland #choosemountains #instanature #hikingculture #traveldeeper #coloradoinstagram #coloradolife #coloradical #goatworthy #indigenouspeoplesday #radgirlslife #outdoorwomen #adventuremobile #adventurethatislife #adventuremore #mtnchicks #girlswhohike #mtnbabes #keepitwild #forceofnature #mountainrunning #protectpubliclands #nativeland #whoselandareyouon #sheexplores

Elk bugling, exploring places of RMNP I haven’t seen before, and this guy. Just a few of my favorite things that make for a great day.

2/2: Yesterday we crossed a hike off the list that was years in the making. Finally made it to beautiful Lake Ingalls during the peak of Larch season. 28° and 10 miles RT in the Leavenworth wilderness, inched along ledges with ice under our feet (huge accomplishment for me as heights are my biggest fear), scrambled up a steep and snowy landscape of rocks, finally to end with a well-deserved lakeside lunch. @juliacleopatraguariglia @amers2121 @_pnwexplorer : we missed you! Can’t wait for the next adventure! @packy.derm .

Everyone should find themselves a Bill and a Lance, but together- not separately! I can promise you it will be non stop laughing and eye rolling the entire time. For example they will refer to everyone by their Instagram name instead of real name. “Wait Colleen, you mean @sweetcoll33n “? It doesn’t get more real than that! . . . . . #teamAARP #pnwpeakbaggers #theywillkickmillennialassallday #thepnwlife #mountainscape #larches #pnwoutdoors #pnwonderland #pnwdiscovered #larchmadness #landscapephotography #washingtonstate #washingtonexplored #choosemountains #bhfyp #upperleftusa #cascadiaexplored #pnwcollective #ourpnw #rei1440project #washingtontrails #wanderwashington #optoutside #instanature #thegreatoutdoors #hikingadventures #gogalavanting #hiking_daily #hikingdads @pnwpeakbagger @lancelarsen

Friends I made along the way lol. The bird came down to say hi. And the mountain sheep I thought at first was a bear 🤯. Good thing since day hikes I don't carry an extra pair of underwear! But then it gave me the stinkeye and we had a staring contest which I won of course 😳 . . . . . . . . #kananaskis #rawsonlake #sarrailridge #kananaskis #peterlougheed #park #wildlife #mountainsheep #bird #adventure #Alberta #Canada #choosemountains #discover #explore #explorecanada #explorealberta #getoutside #liveyouradventure #mountains #neverstopexploring #nature #outdoors #optoutside #parkscanada #photography #rockymountains #travel #wanderlust #hiking

Beauty of a day exploring in the shadows of some giants. 🏔😍— A little cold, a little wet, a little scrambly and a little sketchy. 😬 — If you look closely you can (barely) see a wild @kjvdb wondering why he agreed to this idea of mine. 😁
