Los veleros adaptados en Chile funcionan en Valparaíso. Tienen un sistema de joystick que ayuda a las personas con movilidad reducida a poder hacer un entretenido paseo por la costa. ♿💕✌️ #Disabilities #Empowering #Friends #IGsport #disabilitysports #disabilityawareness #CarruselMedia

Nothing to see here except a girl and her unicorn 🦄 Finished work and in the worst pain ever can’t stand on my feet let alone walk. So just sat in my scruffs in the field with my best friend. And all of a sudden I wasn’t a poorly unable person in pain, I was his friend, the source of sweets, kisses, and cuddles. He’s my dream come true and I kind of feel I’m his too, we just click as a team, as friends, as soulmates. I will never be one of these beautiful #instagirls, sat here in my scruffs no make up hair scraped back looking far from glamorous. But I did like this photo caught from a moment in time, where my pain isn’t visible only my love for Abrigo is. I joke about my illnesses all the time I believe we should, but when I’m in this much pain it hinders me mentally and today I couldn’t ride and I would have kicked myself for that... but this is just as important building a strong bond with my future para horse, learning to communicate through each breath ..... #paraequestrian #paraathlete #disabilityadvocate #disabilitysports #arthritis #kiss #horsegirl #partnership #findthepositivity #findthegood #followmeandmyjourney #togetherwecandothis #andalusianhorse #horses #horselover #horsesofinstagram #instapic #fitnessgirl #insta #photographer #photography #picoftheday #photooftheday #beautyinapicture

When I was six years old, my mother surrendered to my campaign of attrition for ballet lessons, and rang around all the local dance teachers until she found one willing and/or mad enough to agree to teach ballet to a small deaf child who could barely walk and came with a list of medical conditions longer than I was tall, liable to fall over and break bones at any time, for little or no reason. At the time, I was unconscious of these practicalities; in my mind, I was as physically capable as any of my playground peers. As a special birthday treat, I was taken to see Giselle at Sadler’s Wells, and I dreamed of one day going to London to become a famous ballerina, and dancing at Sadler’s Wells myself. I saw no reason why I couldn’t. Over the next decade, whilst my overall mobility increased, so did my consciousness of how that mobility looked. The slow, controlled exercise of ballet was fantastic for my health, but by my last lesson - weeks before the spinal surgery which signalled the beginning of the end of my time on two feet - I had learned to detest my body; to feel nothing but disgust for its crass, crippled imitation of movements which I had once imagined I could dance with such grace. After becoming a full-time wheelchair user, I began to dream of dancing once more. So in 2018, I signed up for a ten-week course of wheelchair ballroom dancing, ending with a performance at the Design Museum. And although dancing was hard & painful, & although I spent one entire lesson crying in the corner from sheer shame of myself, I remembered how it felt to move my body with meaning, with grace; to hold my head high. Fuelled by tabloid media & inspiration porn, society teaches us to equate disability with tragedy; to view wheelchairs in particular as symbols of pity, to which their users are ‘bound’. Yet in every sense, my wheelchair has been my liberation. It allows me a freedom of movement which my legs could never afford. 20 years after my long-suffering mother first signed me up for ballet lessons, and 10 years after I thought I’d hung up my dancing shoes for good, I am now in the midst of rehearsals for a second show at - you guessed it - Sadler’s Wells. Tix in bio 🤗
